Dr. Robert Titus is a professor of Geology at Hartwick college. He is a paleontologist with a professional research background in Ordovician fossils of the Black River Valley. However since the early ’90s, Professor Titus has become familiar to the Catskill community for his columns in Kaatskill Life magazine. He is a frequent speaker in the Catskill area and has led numerous hikes for various regional groups. In more recent years he has been a newspaper columnist for the Greenville Press, the Columbia County Independant and the Woodstock Times. Titus is the author of The Catskills:a Geological Guide, The Catskills in the Ice Age and The Other Side of Time, all published by Purple Mountain Press.
